OUR COVID RESPONSE CONTENT
We have been supporting Aotearoas covid response with content like 'The Covid Kōrero, a weekly nine webisode magazine-style video series that's purpose was to give whānau the correct information about Covid 19, quickly. Commisioned by the NRHCC, this became our people's go to guide to Covid.
This series was shot while in lockdown with Scarlett-Manaia as the presenter and her Mum, Vicki, directing and producing at their home.
Along with this video series, we also created a website that housed this series, as well as the other mahi we have produced for the Covid Response.
OPERATION ISOLATION 2020.
In March 2020 we were told we had 48 hours to prepare for lockdown. Our two presenters were already in Whanganui preparing for a one week shoot on 'isolation' which turned into a 3 month shoot due to lockdown...
They posted and created content and liveys every single day. The aim was to support rangatahi with positive te reo Māori focused content to keep their spirits up and learn something new while in lockdown. It was a huge success that saw our Tiktok following go from 20k followers to 140k followers within a month.
We took our role as part of the team of 5 million very seriously and while sticking to our bubble of 4, we created a series of informative and entertaining clips that supported the messages coming from the experts at the time but were also made specifically for Māori. We were then asked by the NZ Police to make a video for their Creative Genius campaign as well which we happily did so once again, from lockdown. Our 2021 Operation Isolation Covid Content garnered over 16million views over 3 months.
2021 came along and yet again, the country went into full lockdown mode, but this time there was a vaccine being rolled out. Rangatahi were hesitant, and fair enough, but alot of hesitancy came with misinformation. Judah and Nix decided to produce a 20 part series made for Tiktok that deep dives into everything vaccines.
As well as that, our entire team were locked down 'around the motu', so we created a series where we 'checked in' with them each day. This became a mini drama series and was topped off with the wonderfully funny guy Te Aorere Pewhairangi.

This video podcast supported by the Ministry of Health and Health Navigator is a way for us to try and support our rangatahi while dealing with the stresses that comes with a world wide pandemic...Like isolation. Presented by Jack and Morgan from Up2 Aotearoa, Whītiki Taua is a series of Isolation Conversations from some well-known young Māori from Aotearoa, New Zealand.
